The Department of Education (DepEd) plan to conduct pilot implementation or dry run of face-to-face classes in select areas with low-risk of coronavirus (Covid-19) transmission in January next year, has approved by President Rodrigo Duterte.
The president made this approval during the Cabinet meeting in Malacañang tonight.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement that the DepEd shall coordinate with the Covid-19 National Task Force (NTF) for the monitoring of the conduct of the pilot implementation.
“The pilot shall be done under strict health and safety measures, and where there is commitment for shared responsibility among DepEd, local government units and parents,” added Roque.
Also, the Palace official emphasized that in-person (face-to-face) classes in schools where this may be allowed will not be compulsory.
Still, parent’s permission is needed. Parents need to be submit a permit for the student to participate in face-to-face classes, he added.
