Automatic promotion of Teachers every 3 years was sighted during an interview of Secretary Leonor M. Briones last year.
She mentioned that the promotion of public school teachers should be automatic every three (3) years and should be merit-based.
She was asked during the said interview regarding the salary increase of public school teachers and explained that the said increase will give a huge economic effect to the country.
Briones said, “maraming teachers kasi ang nakapako nalang sa Teacher 1,kasi mapopromote lang sila pag may mag re-retire o magpapast-on na teacher kaya aakyat sila. So kaya, sabi namin, dapat merit-based, may magre-retire o hindi, automatically every 3 years ‘yung teachers mapopromote kasi ibig sabihin, mayroon naman s’yang karanasan na, gumaling naman s’ya o kung meron s’yang special accomplishments.”
Sec Briones sighted the merit-based promotion every three years and will not be dependent on the vacated positions from the retirees.
Merit-based system by which appointments and promotions in public service are based on competence rather than political favoritism.
