As the country continues to fight against COVID-19, Education Secretary Leonor M. Briones said that Graduating Class will have to skip the traditional Commencement Exercises.
She mentioned that Graduation Ceremonies will be postponed especially in Luzon where there’s a large number of COVID-19 cases, as well us in Visayan and Mindanao because of lockdowns.
She added that if they can get their records and certificates in schools that’s okay as long as no actual gatherings with the parents, guardians and the teachers.
Graduating Class of SY 2019-2020 will have to skip the traditional Commencement Exercises, thus, non-traditional exercises are allowed.
Many teachers are posting Graduation Videos using the picture presentation of their Graduating Class. Still, we are waiting for DepEd’s opinion on such virtual ceremonies.
Opening of Classes
Regarding the opening of the upcoming school year 2020-2021, Sec. Briones said consultations with parents and other stakeholders are being conducted. “Mayroong iba gusto nila i-move to July or August ang enrollment pero ang ano namin diyan, kung i-move ‘yan, permanente na ‘yang i-move talaga,” she added.
