Vacations are times to explore the world around you, experience new things, and make lasting memories. You achieve this, even if you’re staying at home this summer. You might just discover that you can have a lot of fun from the comfort of your own home!

Walk, run, or take a bike ride. Summer is the perfect time to head outside. You can enjoy the great outdoors (and get in some cardio) while walking through your neighborhood or running around the block. If you have a bike and a helmet, consider taking a daily bike ride instead.

Play games. Before tvs, computers, and tablets, kids spent their summer days playing games, like tag, outdoors. The next time you get together with friends, your kids and the whole family, consider playing:

  • Dodge ball
  • Capture the flag
  • Hide and seek
  • Dominoes
  • Card Games
  • Dice Games
  • Charades

Camp in your backyard. Who needs a campground when you have a backyard? Spend the night or weekend at your backyard campsite. After you’ve pitched the tent, sit around the fire (or grill) toasting marshmallows, hot dogs and stargazing.

Do it with your family, your friends or with your lover.

Exercise indoors to beat the heat. Sometimes it is just too hot to be outside. On these occasions, move your workout indoors. You can check-out a workout videos from the internet or use one of the numerous free online zumba exercise videos.

  • This is also a great way to try new exercises

Write. In the summer, your writing is not limited to the five-paragraph essay. You are free to experiment with different genres of writing, like linked short stories or found poetry. Other genres include romance novel, plays, and creative non-fiction.

  • Reading other people’s work is an excellent way to familiarize yourself with different forms of writing and expression. Check out volumes of poetry, stacks of comics, or a series of short essays from your favorite sites.

Create. Spend your vacation making something—anything! The possibilities are endless.

  • Invent your own fantasy world
  • Build a table or shelf
  • Design clothing or home decor
  • Put together a costume for cosplay
  • Make up a new board game
  • Create a page for online selling

Master a new craft or hobby. Spend your summer immersed in a new hobby. Potential hobbies include:

  • Crocheting, sewing, or knitting
  • Fixing up an old car or bike
  • Baking
  • Painting nail art
  • Gardening
  • Dog training
  • Playing guitar

8 Cook. They say that “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”. A woman can make a man love her by cooking him good meals. But obviously, a man has to like so many other things in a woman before he falls in love with her. Truth is, food is one of the ways you can show someone that you care for them. So, wear your apron, go to the kitchen and cook his favorite dish. You can search new recipes from the net or buy cook books from nearby stores. Experiment a new recipe today! Surely, your family will love you  more and more each day!

Get ahead for the next school year. When the final school bell rings, it is very tempting to think for the upcoming trips and travels, a get away plan far from the city noise and to keep away your lesson plans and school materials for the entire summer. Instead of looking back on the previous school years cramming with information about the new curriculum, look ahead to the next one. If you  decide to stay at home this summer, make it productive. Spend your summer vacation reading books for the advancement to the new curriculum. If not, practice strategies of teaching you have learned from the previous years. Download teaching guides and learning materials, make reading materials for your upcoming  non-reader pupils, make colorful visual aids  that your pupils surely need. This preparation will definitely pay off.
